General Description Of Position

Canes Midstream is a private equity backed midstream oil and gas company with assets in the prolific Permian Basin. Canes Midstream operates the largest private greenfield gathering and processing system in the Southern Midland Basin. The Company is experiencing significant growth and seeking a Lead Mechanic. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities on gas compression (and/or process) equipment. This position is also responsible for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Regulatory requirements and must continually strive to maintain the highest standards for excellence, leadership, and professionalism, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of Canes Midstream.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair natural gas compressors.
  • Inspect engines, compressors, and mechanical equipment, diagnose problems, and determine extent of necessary repairs.
  • Supervise and schedule repairs and routine preventative maintenance.
  • Overhaul, repair, and maintain engines, compressors, pumps, turbines, and motors.
  • Monitor and stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity to minimize problems and downtime.
  • Ensure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.
  • Adhere to Canes Policies and Procedures as well as applicable industry standards and practices.

Perform any other related duties as requested or assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability(ies) required.

  • Solid understanding of gas flow characteristics.
  • Experience with mechanical repair and troubleshooting to include reciprocating compressors, screw compressors, centrifugal pumps, control valves, and fin fan coolers.
  • Experience with instrumentation replacement and troubleshooting to include compressor panel boards, compressor HMI screens, valve positioners, 4-20ma analog transmitters, electric solenoids, and level switches.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Excel is required.
  • Must reside in the San Angelo/Big Lake/Sterling City, Texas vicinity.
  • Strong mechanical skills are required.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) procedures and regulations.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with natural gas engines and compressors, and a working knowledge of production equipment.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain insurability with corporate insurance company.

Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
