Position: Director of Marketing & Communications

Reports to: Vice President of Operations & Strategy

Location: Hybrid  



Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) is seeking a Director of Marketing & Communications, responsible for developing communication and marketing strategies for targeted audiences, both internal and external, through the creative development and delivery of the content across print and digital venues. This will include researching, writing, editing, and publishing information that effectively and accurately supports the organization’s marketing and communications goals and objectives. The ideal candidate must enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and membership-oriented.

 


Responsibilities:


·          Prepare and monitor organizational marketing budget, and provide projections regularly.

·          Propose and implement communication and marketing strategies to achieve annual and multi-year goals and objectives for increased outreach, membership, and engagement.

·          Track, measure and report effectiveness of communication programs, marketing campaigns and events.

·          Provide strategic oversight of organization’s prospective and current member databases, including data collection, communication segmentation, conversion, and maintenance.

·          Generate prospective member leads through in-person and virtual events, the website form, prospect webinars, and email outreach.

·          Develop content that best conveys key messages and meets business goals of organization.

·          Develop and manage content to the organization’s current and future social media channels (i.e. Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and emerging networks).

·          Manage and review content for organization’s public-facing website, update with fresh content on a regular basis.

·          Develop and compose (weekly/monthly) newsletters for internal and external audiences.

·          Actively pitch story ideas about the organization to local, regional, and national media outlets as appropriate.

·          Recruit and manage the organization’s Marketing Committee.



Required Education, Business Competencies, and Background Experience:


·        Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in related field or closely related field

·        Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a position with comparable responsibilities

·        Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory/leadership position

·        Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of marketing roles

·        Experience in business to business and/or non-profit marketing

·        Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva or similar

·        Experience working with ActiveCampaign, Hubspot, FileMaker, or similar

·        Experience with MailChimp or similar email platform

·        Experience with Sprout Social or other social media management tool

·        Knowledge of basic HTML and social media platforms

·        Ability to track, analyze, and report analytics, preferably with Google Analytics 4

·        Strong analytical skills and adept in interpreting strategic vision into an operation model.

·        An exceptional communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral, written, and persuasive skills (a written sample may be required).

·        Experience in WordPress and Drupal for general website editing, etc.

·        Experience with media relations including press release submissions and content pitching



Preferred Qualifications:

·        Experience in non-profit professional services - volunteer-supported membership organization

·        Experience with business/entrepreneur organizations within the WBCS region

·        Experience in FileMaker Pro

·        Preferred of 5-8 years of experience in a position with comparable responsibilities

·        Experience in Drupal and Wordpress platform for website maintenance, edits, online directory, etc.



Equipment and Systems/Programs Utilized:

Personal computers with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, FileMaker Pro, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Internet Explorer, Drupal, WordPress, ActiveCampaign, Canva, Mailchimp, Stova, and other similar equipment and programs.
