Payroll Manager

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the biweekly payroll process, including month end reporting and all tax filings.
  • Supervise biweekly payroll processed by the Payroll Coordinator to be sure payroll is completed accurately and in timely fashion to adhere to payroll deadlines.
  • Update payroll system (Ultipro) with new codes regarding earnings and deductions.
  • Work closely with HR and Timekeeping to manage expectations around upcoming payroll changes and give direction to Payroll Coordinator on processing changes.
  • Review and approve all payroll employee deduction files to 3rd vendors according to predetermined schedule.
  • Review monthly employee benefit bills to be processed by Accounts Payable.
  • Prepare monthly payroll general ledger reports for month end close.
  • Prepare monthly retro adjustments needed to reconcile the general ledger.
  • Manage escalated issues from 3rd party vendors, including issues from garnishments and payroll vendor (Ultipro).
  • Assist Payroll Coordinator on escalations from employees to rectify and explain perceived miscalculations or errors in the payroll system.
  • Work closely with Senior Accountant regarding Affiliate Billing, including payroll, tax withholdings and employee benefits.
  • Responsible for setting up new tax accounts with respective tax agency.
  • Manage all regulatory audits involving payroll, including Financial Audit, Pension and Workmen’s Comp Audit.
  • SKILLS:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, advance knowledge of Excel is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ultipro system experience, required.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • EXPERIENCE:


Must have professional verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail. Efficient data entry skills are required and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must have knowledge of PC and related accounting applications. Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize workload. Must possess analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:


Bachelor’s degree (BS) and/or a minimum of 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
