Plant Process Engineer

**Position Summary:**

Brightsmith has partnered with an up and coming SAF developer who are looking to bring on board a plant engineer to run operations for their facility in Illinois. In this position you will be responsible for achieving plant production goals through capital improvement projects, control system optimization, and personnel training. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday but requires flexibility to assist during process upsets to ensure maximum production quantity and quality while supporting the company's policies, goals, and objectives.

**Essential Job Functions:**

*Monitor and Optimize Plant Operations:*

- Constantly review plant operations to monitor production and quality.

- Anticipate and solve problems promptly, identifying opportunities for improvement.

- Identify plant bottlenecks and reliability issues, collaborating with affected departments to generate and implement solutions.

- Assist in the design, budgeting, implementation, commissioning, and startup of capital improvement projects.

- Optimize plant control systems by programming interlocks, calculators, and instrumentation.

- Train personnel on new processes as they are implemented throughout the plant.

- Develop and update plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.

*Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC):*

- Communicate directly with the QA/QC laboratory to ensure effective participation in implementing and researching new and current plant processes.

- Sample and test process streams as required by the QA program and procedures.

- Understand and interpret QA/QC results and take appropriate action when required.

*Plant Maintenance Program:*

- Assist maintenance in troubleshooting instrumentation issues on the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS) and adding additional programming for new systems.

- Aid maintenance technicians in performing maintenance and repairs.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance-related issues.

*Safety, Health, and Environmental Programs:*

- Assist in developing, implementing, and auditing environmental and safety procedures.

- Determine safety, health, and environmental considerations for new and current processes in the plant.

**Qualifications:**

- Engineering degree

- Experience in grain handling, plant logistics, or dry-mill ethanol plant operations is preferred.

**Skills and Abilities:**

- Ability to learn and work effectively with the plant’s Distributed Control System (DCS).

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to interact professionally and effectively.

- Strong analytical and mechanical abilities and problem-solving skills.
