Job Overview
Cambium Learning is seeking a Privacy Manager with strong data privacy and security compliance experience in a corporate setting. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Privacy Coordinator will be a key member of Cambium Learning’s Legal team and support activities related to compliance with Cambium Learning’s privacy program.
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and experienced team on privacy issues impacting Cambium’s products and services in support of millions of students and educators worldwide.
You will be responsible for leading and driving key privacy and compliance projects related to Cambium’s various products and services and working alongside legal, engineering and business teams.
JobResponsibilities
Work with Privacy Counsel to support Cambium leadership with development of tools and methodologies to ensure on-going compliance with general privacy laws, regulations, requirements and industry best practices.
Coordinate privacy projects to ensure the development of new products and services are consistent with Cambium’s privacy policies and legal obligations.
Ensure that all projects complete privacy and compliance deliverables (i.e., data privacy impact assessments)
Develop detailed and comprehensive project plans to monitor and track progress for all privacy compliance activities
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all privacy compliance initiatives
Liaise with functional mangers and management to prioritize activities across programs to balance resource availability, program deliverables and schedule and business needs
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Juris Doctor in a discipline appropriate to privacy compliance or an equivalent combination of education and work experience (Juris Doctor is preferred but not required)
Has successfully led several high complexity projects from beginning to end
Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project
Domain experience in privacy and compliance
Knowledge of comprehensive privacy laws, and regulatory and other guidance and standards
Ability to clearly organize and inform through excellent written and verbal communications
Ability to lead, take action, and provide direction in the face of ambiguity
Ability to get results in diverse, fast paced environments
Proven analytical capability with attention to detail
Outstanding interpersonal skills and diplomacy
Ability to partner at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in project management tools and processes
Understanding of US state and federal sector-specific privacy laws, particularly as they relate to education
Experience drafting and negotiating privacy related contracts
Experience conducting ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with other compliance and operational assessment functions
Relevant certification from International Association of Privacy Professionals (“IAPP”) or equivalent
