The Opportunity

The Cross-product Solutions Engineer is an exciting new position within the Sales org, whose goal is to span Enel X’s entire suite of sustainable energy products in translating customers’ challenges & needs into a technically sound and commercially attractive energy solution. The Solutions Engineering role is a very flexible and diverse position that includes data analysis, light market research, frequent contacts with customers, on-site technical evaluations, financial modeling, and business prioritization. While this role has been traditionally focused on distributed energy resources such as solar and battery storage, the cross-product role will expand that scope to other products such as electric vehicle charging, demand response, and global renewable energy strategy advisory services.

What You'll Do At Enel North America

Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:

• Support a team of Sales and Business Development professionals in the solutions engineering process for solutions including DERs and other assets from the Enel product suite and beyond
• Works independently in partnership with sales, product marketing, product management, and engineering as a critical link between internal technical resources, the end customer and key stakeholders
• Conduct project analysis including modeling technical solutions, calculation of expected economic performance and generation of customer facing cash and financed offers as required
• Provides clear communication pathway between multiple Enel X sales & product teams for different business lines; identifies areas for connection and collaboration.
• Drive revenue by clearly communicating the range of solutions and corresponding benefits across the spectrum of performance, cost, risk and compliance to provide value to the customer while maximizing business results
• Possesses deep technology and application knowledge of energy storage, solar, electric vehicle charging, and other distributed energy resources (DERs)
• Develops regional market subject matter expertise with utility grid services programs such as demand response, virtual power plants, ancillary services and similar emerging opportunities to monetize distributed energy resources assets
• Excels in diverse roles including system modeling and design as well as customer and partner interactions
• Visit customer sites to identify customer requirements and gather project data in order to make solutions recommendations
• Interfaces with customers by phone, e-mail, and in person to answer application/system questions and help customers solve technical problems
• Be an industry-expert on the market, competitors, customer value proposition, and our business
  
  

Who You Are

• Self-motivated, comfortable operating without day-to-day direction
• Strong customer focus, with unwavering attention to safety and quality
• Ability to work in teams, in a fast-paced environment
• Strong preference for energy storage dispatch modeling experience or other similar time dependent energy system modeling
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office tools, including (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access)
• Strong business and technical analytical skills required
• Thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into technical and operational requirements.
• Project management skills including ability to multitask, prioritize, set and meet deadlines, work independently, and perform tasks with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Travel required up to 25% of the time and up to 10% of the travel will be outside assigned area.
  
  

What You've Accomplished

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical degree. MS degree in Engineering, or related technical degree preferred.
• 6+ years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 3+ years’ experience in a customer-facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, application engineering, field engineering or other technical support role
• 3+ years of demonstrated technical experience in distributed generation in a commercial and industrial context strongly preferred, but at least a related field such as energy efficiency or energy management.
