Job Overview

As part of the Advanced Manufacturing Group, the Materials Manager identifies and implements methods to improve the Inventory Planning and Control functions and Warehousing and Material Handling/Flow functions. Works to ensure inventory objectives are met and that material is available, in the right place, when needed for production. Logistics and Material Flow will involve the establishment of warehousing and inventory control practices to ensure inventory record accuracy (WIP), proper protection of all inventories and optimum handling methods.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitors and effectively implements inventory improvement strategies to reduce WIP inventory levels and improve lead times.
  • Seeks to optimize production schedules and material transport methods.
  • Collaborates with critical stakeholders to establish inventory plans and continuously monitors for corrective actions and improvements.
  • Benchmarks current state performance regarding material flow and develops methods for improving and digitally monitoring future performance.
  • Understands ERP (SAP/EWM/WM) operating system and recommends system enhancements designed to streamline material flow.
  • Researches most recent proven technology and presents structured business case, including ROI for purchase. Also manages E2E execution of stated technological advancements.
  • Seek ways to leverage Lean manufacturing principles such as Kanban, push/pull, right part right place right time, against current state.
  • Identifies possible use cases to employ automation and technology.
  • Establishes clear communication and coordination across internal supply chain.
  • Communicates with various departments and vendors as needed to resolve outstanding problems, or issues.
  • Develops and implements warehouse and plant material flow programs, processes, and procedures.
  • Facilitates positive change with all stakeholders to achieve high morale, safe and best working environment.
  • Reports the progress of Warehouse/Inventory projects to Director on a regular basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required Skills

  • Education required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
  • Experience required: Operations or related field and a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Purchasing and Warehouse/Inventory activities. Minimum of seven (7) years experience in SAP/WM/EWM operating system. At least seven (7) years of supervisory or management experience.

Preferred Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing, inventory, and material handling techniques. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Good oral and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple tasks in an organized manner. Patience, persistence, and critical thinking skills are very important. Accuracy and attention to detail are required.
  • Strong management ability.
  • Strong computers skills required, specifically MS Excel and/or Access. SAP/EWM/WM knowledge is preferred.
  • Must project a cooperative and positive attitude toward customers, employees, and the Company.
  • Must comply with all environmental and safety rules, and practices.
  • Travel – 50%
