General Purpose of the Position

The Supervisor, Total Rewards reports to the Director of People Operations and provides direct leadership of Total Rewards functions including payroll, compensation, benefits, retirement, leave of absence, and workers' compensation. Advises on the strategic direction, as well as oversight of day-to-day activities of the Total Rewards team. Advocates for employee needs and expectations while balancing the organizational risks and impact of each employee matter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May perform other duties as requested or assigned.

  • Designs, manages, and oversees the operations of the Total Rewards team, ensuring the smooth execution of all processes related to Total Rewards, including payroll, compensation, benefits, retirement, leave of absence, and workers' compensation.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations and company policies throughout Total Rewards; monitors upcoming regulatory changes and works to operationalize new legislation.
  • Develops and maintains standardized procedures and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance across all Total Rewards functions.
  • Responsible for all compliance and audits and report filings for areas of responsibility, including supervising and approving preparation and distribution of all year-end forms and filings.
  • Manages vendor and third-party administration relationships, including quality delivery, compliance with processes, requirements, and service expectations.
  • Oversees leave of absence, disability, and workers compensation programs, and advises HR and stakeholders on all issues related to FMLA, ADA, and statutory leaves of absence in accordance with internal policies and employment laws.
  • Oversees payroll administration to ensure payroll is completed in an orderly, accurate and secure process.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of our Total Rewards programs to ensure that they are aligned with business need, strategy, market trends, and company culture, and strategize with People Leadership to implement or adjust current policies and benefits programs.
  • Assists in the development of compensation programs, including pay philosophy, policy maintenance, system set-up and updates; facilitates analysis of market trends to maintain the competitiveness of employee pay practices; and guides the annual compensation planning process (merit increases, promotions, incentive plans, and recognition programs).
  • Classifies jobs in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, ensuring accurate exemption status and adherence to wage and hour regulations; conducts periodic audits of job descriptions, classifications and salary ranges to address changes in roles, responsibilities, or regulatory requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with benefits broker to manage the Open Enrollment Process including communication, brochures, training, invoices, presentations and questions.
  • Collaborate with People Team and relevant stakeholders to define, prioritize, communicate, and achieve strategic projects tied to organizational goals; act as a liaison between the People department and other areas of the business to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment on People initiatives.
  • Manages the Benefits Specialist and Payroll Specialist to ensure efficient and effective execution of departmental tasks and projects.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from an accredited four (4) year college or university. Five or more years of experience in a combination of related Human Resources fields, including benefits, compensation, compliance, leave of absence, payroll, retirement, workers compensation.

Masters' degree or certification in Human Resources (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including MS Excel. Strong project management skills and experience with managing different projects; setting and meeting deadlines and evaluating results. Proven collaboration skills with employees, vendors, and partners, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws. Advanced organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize, problem-solve, work under pressure, and manage multiple assignments effectively. Results oriented, proven self-starter with a strong drive for action and results; able to take initiative and work independently. Solid understanding of process improvement methodologies and experience in redesigning processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors. Agile mindset with willingness to flex when and where the team needs arise. Highly technical and analytical; ability to remain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is typically required to sit for long periods. The employee continually is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to [10] pounds.
