On a monthly basis, Branchburg Township School District recognizes and showcases the exceptional work and dedication of our employees. Each team member plays a crucial role in our collective success, and the employee spotlight program is a way of acknowledging and appreciating individual contributions. To shine the spotlight on these staff members, please see the stories below for our May recipients: CATIE RELLO (WES) Instructional Coach Catie makes learning fun and engaging for all learners and presents such a caring heart. The same can be said in how she interacts with colleagues, and she is always willing to help provide innovative insight to educational practices. Catie is the definition of a team player and I am grateful that I was able to have the experience of working with her. Her kindness, patience and welcoming attitude makes her a great coach, teacher and mentor. She truly deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond. MIKE CLARK (SBS) Physical Education Teacher Mike is not only looked up to by students, but his fellow colleagues as well. As one of Stony Brook's physical education teachers, Mike embodies what teamwork really is. He demonstrates this skill to his students and models this trait as a staff member. Mike is always willing to help, goes above and beyond for his students, and it is clear that they not only learn physical education skills, but life skills as well. RAZEL GATTI (BCMS) Instructional Intervention Aide Mrs. Gatti is not only hard working and dedicated, she is one of the kindest humans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This month, we are shining the spotlight on: ROSEANN BOEHM CANDACE SHARROW JACLYN FURNARI who consistently demonstrated amazing teamwork, going above and beyond, positivity, and exceptional dedication. We’re excited to recognize their hard work and achievements acknowledged by their peers. To shine the spotlight on these staff members, please see the stories below from those that nominated them. ROSEANN BOEHM (Whiton) School Secretary Roseann goes above and beyond her duties every day to support staff and students. In recent years, Roseann begins her day and excels at ensuring all classroom/specials teachers have adequate coverage for their absence. Roseann is organized and efficient. Roseann is on-top of any and all staff questions and/or requests. Roseann interacts seamlessly with administrators, staff, students and parents alike! Roseann is a staple in Whiton's front office, and keeps things up and running. Whiton appreciates Roseann every day! CANDACE SHARROW (SBS) 5th Grade Teacher Candace consistently sets high expectations for her students and more importantly, provides them with the tools and support to meet these high expectations. She is an exceptional teacher who motivates her students to produce high caliber work. She consistently provides models of her own writing for students to learn from, gives them effective strategies for LA objectives that helps them improve their work and piles ample praise to keep them motivated and working hard! I'm always impressed with the quality of work they produce based on her effective teaching abilities! JACLYN FURNARI (BCMS) Science Teacher Jaclyn Furnari is a true team player. She supports all of the members of her 8th grade team and is always willing to go the extra mile. One can always count on Jaclyn to be there. Not only is she a great asset to the 8th grade teachers, she is also a true champion to her students. The relationships she forms with students compel them to work hard in her class. Branchburg Township School District would like to thank the Somerset Patriots | New York Yankees Double-A Baseball and Stephen Goldsmith for their generous donations of Patriots apparel to our steps challenge winners! Thank you so much for your support to the Branchburg staff! In the month of April, the district held its first walking challenge. The challenge was designed to promote health, wellness, and team spirit within our schools! Many staff members embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and their commitment to wellness is inspiring. Thank you to our incredible staff for their dedication, hard work, and support of one another throughout the challenge. While we may have had top performers in terms of steps, every participant is a winner. 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐀 𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 Melissa is a colleague, educator, and friend who goes above and beyond each and every day for those around her to ensure their success. She always has a positive attitude and brightens any space that she enters. Her smile and laugh is contagious, making other people’s day better. She has established a classroom community that is safe in all aspects. Her classroom is a place where students can take risks within their learning. Together, as a team, each child is well supported and loved. As a teacher, Ms. Donaway is described by students as “A teacher who makes learning fun. She answers questions in fun ways and provides us with extra help when we need it like in math. She also gives us soft start time which is our favorite way to start our day. Ms. Donaway is always smiling and laughing, making our days bright.” 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐂𝐇 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 Caroline Och is such an important aspect of Stony Brook School. She is always willing to drop everything to help out student and staff members in whatever they need. She creates a warm, welcoming, and calming environment for the students and always put their needs first. Caroline excels in all the work she does and has open communication with all. She is always thinking of others and goes above and beyond in every way. 𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐇 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐏𝐄 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 Deb Volpe has really stepped up as team leader. She is constantly advocating for her colleagues as well as cares deeply about students. She is a team player and proactively supports the 8th grade team. Through her enthusiasm and her sense of humor, she is able to connect with students on a deeper level. Deb works with all stakeholders to collaboratively brainstorm solutions when issues arise. BCMS is very lucky to have Deb Volpe as part of its team! She is a team player and collaborates with teachers and related service providers to utilize the best strategies and techniques. KATHLEEN SCHUNK Instructional Support Teacher When Mrs. Schunk walks into a classroom, the students light up because they know she is bringing a big dose of fun to the learning process. She exudes warmth, good humor, patience, engaging methods, and she meets the students where they are intellectually and emotionally so they feel confident to take chances. She is a gifted teacher who works hard but makes it look effortless. ALLISON ELIK Science Teacher Allison is an incredible colleague and teacher. From the minute she started teaching she was ready to tackle anything. She has managed online teaching, half virtual/half in person and teaching multiple grades. She truly puts the students' needs first. Allison makes strong connections with all students and ensures they feel safe in her classroom. She is a team player and always ready to put in the work needed to create fun, engaging lessons. She brings a fresh perspective to teaching and is always willing to share her ideas. Allison is a wonderful asset to the BCMS community and we’re lucky to have the opportunity to work alongside her.
