I decided to be proactive instead of reactive and it changed everything. Spending the day reacting to whatever shows up is much more stressful than most of us realize. I spent years unaware of how much being in a reactive state was contributing to my feelings of exhaustion. Of course there are some parts of our jobs and lives that will always be reactive. But when we take control over as much as we can, including our daily schedule, life gets better. One small action...turning off email and social media alerts and instead having set times to check them significantly increased my ability to focus on important tasks and improved my productivity. I don't remember which book this was in, but I'm very grateful to the author and for whatever drove me to pick that book up. My life is better because of it! I was able to relax and enjoy the festivities yesterday. I hope you were able to do the same!
