From a business perspective this might make sense, however this has already permanently damaged Discord's reputation while also screwing bot devs with insane fees for little to no features. I really hope this is just a sick April Fool's joke.
Love this!
Please can we have dummy accounts for application testing? 🙏
Exciting!

4wSpinning this as a positive change on without even mentioning why this has happened is actual insanity. Forcing all developers who offer premium features for their apps to also offer them on the Discord store, at a price no higher than the on offered on the developers website, means that Discord is forcing developers to eat the 15-30% fee for using the in app store. Beyond the legal & economic side of things, this is bad. Discord does not support, and realistically cannot hope to support, every payment system requirement that bots need. Developers will be unable to decide if users are eligible for a refund, instead giving Discord complete & arbitrary control over refunds. Discord can refuse to give refunds when a developer has deemed it necessary to refund users. Furthermore, Discord can arbitrarily give out refunds without involving the developer in the conversation, allowing for abuse. A fair compromise to this would be to let us set the price as whatever price we offer on other sites + whatever fee Discord will take. i.e. if we offer a $10/month subscription on our site, we offer a $10+fee (~$12.10)/mo subscription on Discord.
