Last Friday, our Kenilworth students visited the Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices (CAMD) at Louisiana State University! Under the guidance of Dr. Orhan Kizilkaya, our students had the incredible opportunity to delve into hands-on experiments, exploring the cutting-edge technologies shaping our future. From nanotechnology to materials science, every moment was filled with wonder and discovery. A huge thank you to Dr. Kizilkaya @CAMD team for his warm welcome and for igniting the curiosity and passion for science in our students. CAMD is the synchrotron facility in the southern United States. The students learned how synchrotron light is generated and utilized at various experimental stations for ongoing research projects. They were exposed to advanced technology up close and involved in hands-on demonstrations, including optics, electroplating, and experiments showcasing changes in states of matter using liquid nitrogen and magic mud (also known as Oobleck). The tour concluded with a sweet treat-orange ice cream made with liquid nitrogen and orange crush.

We are thrilled to announce a unique opportunity that has come our way! Liz Cohen and Thomas Toch from FutureEd at Georgetown University are currently working on a special project to showcase high-impact tutoring success stories and highlight innovative practices in education. Guess what? They've set their sights on featuring the outstanding work of TFA Ignite right here at Kenilworth! In addition to observing the first grade Reading tutoring sessions, Liz and Thomas recently had the privilege of meeting with our incredible students to gain insights into the impact that tutoring has had on their educational journey.
