In this video, see firsthand how solar is helping revive the American sheep industry, as American farm families are supported through #solar sheep grazing. 🌱🐑 Solar grazing provides business growth opportunities and access to land for local farm families, serving as an added, steady revenue stream in addition to raising sheep for lamb and wool.  Solar grazing also enhances the environment. Rotational grazing keeps #biodiversity in balance as sheep "mow” the land under and around solar panels, leaving behind their waste, adding nutrient-rich organic matter back into the soil. Lightsource bp’s teams have been on the road throughout Q2 participating in number of opportunities to share our knowledge, engage with local stakeholders and celebrate some of our own milestones along the way too. 🎓 🎊    We participated in significant events like the Agrivoltaics World Conference in Denver, where Lexie Hain, Director of Agrivoltaics and Land Management for Lightsource bp in the US sat on the conference’s scientific committee. We also hosted a technical workshop in Madrid with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy, focusing on integrating agriculture with solar operations. 🚜 🌞  Additionally, we continued our sponsorship of the Badminton Horse Trials in the UK, highlighting our commitment to rural economies. Scaling up rapidly in the energy transition is both a challenge and a privilege for @Lightsourcebp ☀️     Artificial intelligence is playing an important role in supporting that scaling up of the renewable energy industry. 💡     AI is helping Lightsource bp to work smarter and harder. This can mean doing the simple things faster or, in many cases, finding brand new solutions. Lightsource bp is dedicated to a clean and sustainable future, and our 2023 Sustainability Report highlights our commitments and progress. 🌍 🌞 We have developed 8.8GW of solar assets to date and have a pipeline of projects totalling more than 60GW. In 2023, we generated over 3.7TWh of renewable energy, avoiding estimated emissions of over 2,300,000 tCO2e associated with global energy generation. 🔆🌿 Empowering Agriculture at Lightsource bp! 🌿🔆    Exciting times at Lightsource bp as we ramp up our agrivoltaics capabilities! We recently teamed up with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy to host a dynamic workshop at our EMEA hub in Madrid 📚💡 bringing together over 30 members from across the Lightsource bp engineering and technical project teams to explore the latest industry developments. 🚜🌞    Our goal? Spain: Lightsource bp partners with scientists from the Biological Station of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) to conduct research on the habitat of the Lesser Kestrel in Andalusia and analyse its interaction with other activities on the same land, such as solar farms.  ☀️⚡ The study was launched this spring in the rural areas around Seville.
