We’re delighted to welcome Lisa Singh to the Meet team for the next 13 weeks as part of her MBA studies at Alliance Manchester Business School. With four years experience of working in Life Sciences under her belt and a current focus on research and data, she’ll be diving into the relationship between investment and hiring across the sector. As ever, we are committed to sharing these insights with the Life Sciences community to help inform hiring plans and strategy - so we can’t wait to see what she uncovers by speaking with people who have the best insight - you!

Hi, my name is Lisa, I'm from India and I am a full time MBA student at University of Manchester. I have completed the diploma stage of my course and currently I am in the advanced stage of my MBA journey and this is how the journey brings me to meet our life sciences recruitment. I'm doing a project based internship with Meat Life Sciences and my role over here across the 13 weeks that I am going to be working with Meat. Recruitment will be to try and understand and establish the linkages between the investment activities and the recruitment and hiring patterns in the biotech and biopharma space in the US West Coast, which is primarily where the company operates. So it's going to be a very exciting journey trying to unfold the nuances of those linkages between the venture capital activities and and the PE activities and how that affects and triggers the hiring patterns. Across the biopharma companies on the US West Coast. In terms of how Meat is gonna help me in my MBA journey, I think the the whole project at Meat has come up at a very pertinent time, at a very correct time. Because this is exactly where I'm completely ready to be able to apply the learnings, the learnings in terms of the frameworks, the experiences that I gained across working on the consulting projects and see how this can help. Tackle the challenges of the real world business problems and meet especially working in the life sciences sector, which is where my experience is primarily based out of. I feel it gives me that opportunity, that chance to apply my learnings and further accelerate the value that I can create for businesses and, and prove my credibility in in that direction. So, yeah, so the scope of the project that I'm working on, it's pretty interesting and it's pretty diverse. As well. And accordingly, I will have to interact with diverse stakeholders, including both internal as well as external stakeholders. So in terms of the internal stakeholders, I would say so far I have been really grateful and lucky in the way the community at Meat has accepted me into their platforms, into their tools and in general into their day-to-day workings. So thank you meet community for that. What I really expect from them is a continued support. And, and being a partner in this journey so that I can learn from their vast experiences, learnings and as well as, you know, trying to draw upon their insights and how they approach the problems and add to the perspectives in terms of external stakeholders. I would say it, it will really be very interesting to see how I can interview and engage the clients and the partners and try and kind of. We developed this understanding in their minds as well that this project will eventually help them also build upon their talent network and and add value to their business as well. So it's a very symbiotic, it's a very beneficial relationship that can develop over the course of time. So as they say, you do your MBA only once in your life. And definitely that that makes for the fact that MBA is one of the most crucial decisions that you take in your life. And thankfully. My decision has has turned out to be literally a a dream come true event for me. You know, being an international student, having moved from India and trying to understand the nuances of business in an international setting, MBA has been the right platform for me to accelerate their dream and and just help me in kind of. Further developing my leadership skills, my, my vision, my, my strategic thinking and and just giving me that platform to explore those opportunities that lie ahead for for a very promising and an ambitious career in future.
