Our Silvur CEO Rhian Horgan headlined a panel discussion at the Financial Health Network EMERGE conference this week. While much progress has been made, the big takeaway was we have more to do. Millions of Americans are being left behind. Retirement is far more complicated than it was for prior generations. Employers have walked away. Today Social Security announced in their Annual Trustee Report that the trust fund is solvent until 2035. While the announcement celebrated the 1 year extension (vs the 2023 Annual Trustee Report) lets not forget that by 2035 the trust fund will no longer be able to meet its obligations to millions of Americans. This is the moment that parties need to quickly come together to find a compromise. Additional years of debating the math (higher taxes vs lower payouts) only increases the anxiety millions of Americans face as they navigate retirement. America's first generation of post-pension retirees is now entering into retirement. They need to know that their Social Security will be there for their retirement and for future generations.
