Helping Spanish learners increase their comprehension & speaking skills in 10 weeks through Neurolanguage Coaching® without boring lessons or ineffective exercises 👉 Ask me about content recommendations in Spanish 📺🎧

Many people don't know I used to be a piano teacher 🎹 From 2012 until 2018, I gave thousands of piano lessons to a wide variety of students, adapting my methods to each student, just as I do now as a Spanish language coach. There were students who loved practicing piano exercises and scales, while others hated them. Most began learning piano because they wanted to play actual music. Somehow, the prevalent idea among many was that they needed to spend a lot of time practicing scales and doing exercises, almost like a preparation phase before being able to play piano pieces in the future. I always tried to explain that it was possible to incorporate actual songs or piano pieces right from the beginning. Perhaps it wouldn't be Beethoven's 'Moonlight' or 'Hammerklavier' Sonata, but something fun and easy to play. Nonetheless, many students focused on dull, boring exercises, believing that's what they should do during most of their practice time between lessons. Eventually, some ended up giving up the practice altogether, stopping both practicing and taking lessons. With some Spanish learners, I see a similar pattern: 🔹Students focus all their attention on learning grammar and vocab 🔹They do grammar exercises and take language lessons 🔹They don't consume enough compelling Spanish content, such as fun and interesting books, videos, and audios 🔹They struggle and force themselves to keep taking classes 🔹They give up or continue the same pattern for years or even decades Why do some students make it so hard on themselves? Are they getting extra credits for making it extra boring? Really, I'm curious. (I attach a picture of Graciela, one of my former piano students. She was very diligent! And, of course, she divided her practice time between exercises, scales and her favorite Bach pieces 😎 ). #spanish #español #rioplatense #aprenderidiomas #learnlanguages #pianolessons #piano #spanishlanguage #spanishlearning

The same is true for the guitar. You can learn to play the signature “Smoke on the Water” riff in a matter of minutes with zero experience but most literature wants you to believe that you need to go through months of learning the “basics” before you can even consider to get to the fun stuff. But that’s just not true. You can actually have fun *while* learning.
