At YRCI, we join in the celebration of Juneteenth, a day that marks a pivotal moment in American history—the end of slavery in the United States. It’s a time for reflection, education, and unity. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War had ended and enslaved people were now free—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we honor the resilience, culture, and contributions of African Americans.
