So, what's happened in Race in STEM this month...

Welcome to the latest edition of RiS Spotlight, the monthly newsletter from Race in STEM which aims to inspire, inform and connect our community. If you missed our first edition you can view it here.

This community was born to empower voices of colour and other multi-cultural professionals on the global STEM stage; but also be a vessel for collaboration, a catalyst for career opportunities and of course, a safe, judgement-free space to share experiences and ideas!

It has been another busy month for Race in STEM so let’s dive straight in and shine a light on all the great collaborations and events that have taken place.

Dublin Tech Summit

As mentioned in the previous newsletter, I attended this years Dublin Tech Summit which took place at the Royal Dublin Society. Another huge success with roughly 7500 in attendance.

On day 1, I had the pleasure of hosting a podcast discussion with CEO of Guild Esports Jasmine Skee. Postcast to be released next month

On day 2, I sat down with Anna Radulovski, Mel Good, Jeevantika Lingalwar and Mike Adebiyi. We discussed the 'Return of Investment for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion' within the Tech industry.

I was introduced to Zahir Carrington at the start of the year. A proven and dynamic Med Tech Sales professional who has won a number of awards to his commitment to industry. However, how do you go from being a Basketballer training for the Olympics to working in Med Tech Sales? Listen now.

Clinical Diversity Webinar Part Two – 'Representation in Trials’

It’s an unfortunate fact that most minority groups, whether lifestyle or ethnic groups, are underrepresented in clinical trials

I facilitated this webinar with Barry , Tea, Tiffany and Michael.

We discussed some great areas for improvement which really do centre around the work 'Education'.

What's coming up?

Race in STEM will be attending the Black Professionals in Life Science summer social on the 27th June. Be sure to look out for both Pete Andu and Anita Osibuamhe who will be representing us and networking with another inspiring community

We're hosting The Proud Science Alliance who are coming to our London Headquarters to celebrate PRIDE. There will be a panel discussion with 3 industry experts and opportunity for networking and socialising.

Imperial Collage have invited Race in STEM and BioTalent to their Black Graduates Career Conference on the 28th June. Having been invited to speak as a panellist in 2023, this is a conference that really makes an impression and is supported really well. We’re looking forward to seeing what impact is made this year.
