Meta is seeking a Public Policy Manager for China. This role will primarily focus on policy research and analysis to help the company to learn more about the vast and diverse region. She or he will also expect to support the company’s interactions with different types of external stakeholders, such as policymakers, non-government organizations (NGOs), and industry groups, to help them understand how Meta can best serve local communities and businesses. This is a permanent, full-time position and is based in our Hong Kong office. This role will report to the Director of Public Policy for Greater China.
Public Policy Manager, China Responsibilities
  • Represent Meta in meetings and public events with policymakers and other stakeholders
  • Respond to questions and consultations from external stakeholders on relevant policy issues
  • Interface with internal partners and clients regarding Meta products, policies, practices, and guidelines
  • Collaborate with product, legal, business and other teams to evaluate new and existing products and features to ensure they reflect Meta’s policies, values and principles
  • Evaluate the impact of legislative, regulatory, and industry proposals
  • Monitor and understand the fast-changing policy landscape in the vast and diverse region and work with internal cross-functional teams, including Legal and Corporate Communications, to provide timely analysis and assessment on relevant policy issues
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience managing public policy and/or government relations and advocacy work, ideally in the tech space.
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Chinese fluently due to the need to engage with external regulators and other organisations.
  • Experience working and engaging with policymakers
  • Ability to exercise strong judgment and persuasive skills, creativity, and ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and drive projects independently
  • Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in policy work for a multinational corporation or government preferred
  • Knowledge of tech or emerging tech related policy issues preferred
  • Advanced degree in public policy, a related field or law degree is a plus
