Abstract

Drinking of alcohol beverages is highly spread custom all over the world. It can lead to serious medical and social consequences. This review describes the types of human alcohol dehydrogenase in the gastrointestinal tract and its role in metabolism of ethanol as well as a role of bacterial alcohol dehydrogenase in gastrointestinal tract.
