Abstract

The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute's Sixth Report of the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation and Treatment of High Blood Pressure (JNC VI) proposes a set of public health challenges to fight hypertension. The report proposes a system of risk stratification and pharmacologic therapy. Ongoing care of the person with high blood pressure (HBP) emphasizes the role of the primary care provider.
