Initial experience with gamma knife radiosurgery for advanced glaucoma

J Neurosurg. 2000 Dec:93 Suppl 3:180-3. doi: 10.3171/jns.2000.93.supplement.

Abstract

Object: The authors assessed the affect of gamma knife radiosurgery on patients with glaucoma.

Methods: Fifteen eyes in 14 patients were treated with gamma knife radiosurgery during a 14-month period. Ocular pain was alleviated in all patients and intraocular pressure was decreased. There were no early side effects.

Conclusions: Further studies are needed to elucidate the best treatment parameters, long-term results, and some of the pathophysiological effects.
