Quantification of focal contacts in osteoblastic cells--effects of intermittent and continuous gravitational stresses

J Gravit Physiol. 1996 Sep;3(2):78-9.

Abstract

NASA: Osteoblast morphology and attachment were studied during parabolic flight and during centrifugation. Cultures of osteosarcoma cells were exposed to gravitational changes and then analyzed for morphological changes and stained using immunofluorescence staining for vinculin. Changes in cell adhesion parameters and focal contact topography are presented and discussed.
