Mechanisms of voluntary movements

Parkinsonism Relat Disord. 2002 Oct;9(1):55-9. doi: 10.1016/s1353-8020(02)00044-5.

Abstract

Voluntary movements constitute a mixture of drive related, motivational deep brain mechanisms and cortical goal representations. Some recent studies led to a better understanding of these aspects of voluntary motor behaviour. These data are discussed with reference to the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease.
