[Breast cancer screening after age 70]

[Article in French]

Abstract

Today, mammographic screening for breast cancer is recommended in France in the female population age 50 to 74. This recommendation is based on the analysis of all randomised studies. However, the available data show the risk of cancer to increase markedly with age. One excludes therefore from the screening programme, the women who are most likely to present with breast cancer. Should not one consider screening among older women?
