Abstract

The immediate and late follow-up results of treatment of 113 patients, suffering locally spread cancer recti, complicated by ileus, are presented. Performance of the intestinal lumen recanalization, done through the tumor, using endoprosthesis, have permitted to reduce the rate of the symptomatic operations conduction by 40% and to conduct an adequate neoadjuvant therapy. Preoperative chemoradiation therapy is tolerated fairly by the patients, immediate results are not deteriorated and local recurrence rate lowers trustworthy. Deep pathomorphosis, occurring in the tumor cells after conduction of chemoradiation therapy, permits to hope for improvement of late results.
