Background: Chronic hepatitis C remains a public heath problem. In France, 400,000 to 500,000 subjects are chronically infected with HCV.
Literature findings: The purpose of this review was first to summarize the clinical aspects of the disease and the guidelines and results of antiviral treatment. The authors focus on the psychiatric side effects of antiviral treatment, and discuss the importance of good patient-provider interaction in patient's satisfaction, highlighting the mandatory role of the dynamic management of patients by hepatologists and psychiastrists.
Conclusion: Multidisciplinary approaches have to be set up to better treat these patients.
