[Article in German]

Abstract

Prostatectomy and radiotherapeutic methods for the curative treatment of locally limited cancer of the prostate are associated with comparable tumor-control rates. The decision as to which procedure should be applied depends not only on the stage of the disease, but also on the spectrum of side effects that must be expected, and their acceptance by the patient. Prior to decision-making, the individual risk profile should be determined as accurately as possible.
