Osseointegrated implants: a potential route of entry for squamous cell carcinoma of the mandible

Br J Oral Maxillofac Surg. 2008 Jul;46(5):397-9. doi: 10.1016/j.bjoms.2007.09.009. Epub 2007 Dec 3.

Abstract

Documented cases of oral squamous cell carcinoma in relation to osseointegrated implants are rare. We present the first case with evidence to suggest that implants provide a route of entry for squamous cell carcinoma to the mandible.
