Abstract

Nitration of 2,7-di-tert-butyl-naphthalene 1,8-disulfide with fuming nitric acid in 1:3 molar ratio gives the title compound, C(14)H(11)N(3)O(6)S(2). A tape motif is formed by weak head-to-tail inter-actions (3.131 Å) between S and NO(2) O atoms of a symmetry-related mol-ecule.
