Abstract

Purpose of review: To evaluate the current evidence-based medicine for rhytidectomy. Specific techniques and their scientific rationale are explored. The authors' practice modifications based on this evidence will be reviewed.

Recent findings: The utilities of short scar facelift techniques are validated. Specific indications for the deep plane technique are also discussed.

Summary: The reader will understand the rationale for choosing specific rhytidectomy techniques for young patients, older patients and specific anatomic findings.
