Fast and accurate diagnostic of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is of vital importance. Chest X-ray is currently the most used image modality for the diagnosis of CAP. Lung ultrasound (LUS) is an image modality that seems superior to conventional chest X-ray for diagnosing CAP. LUS is better at detecting and diagnosing complications to CAP. This narrative review gives an update on the literature and describes a practical approach to the use of LUS for the diagnosis and follow-up of CAP.
