Cervical syphilitic lesions mimicking cervical cancer: a rare case report

Int J Infect Dis. 2015 Feb:31:1-3. doi: 10.1016/j.ijid.2014.12.005. Epub 2014 Dec 5.

Abstract

A woman presented to the hospital due to postcoital vaginal bleeding. The patient was initially diagnosed with cervical carcinoma by clinicians at a local hospital. However, a biopsy of the cervical lesions revealed chronic inflammation and erosion of the cervical mucosa, and the rapid plasma reagin ratio titer was 1:256. The patient was eventually diagnosed with syphilitic cervicitis and treated with minocycline 0.1g twice a day. The patient was cured with this treatment.
