In the summers of 1972 and 1973, in an area of inland dunes in the Netherlands, and estimation was made of the percentage of amphibians that was killed by infections caused by Lucilia bufonivora. It appeared that only Bufo bufo was preyed on. In the two years of the investigation an average of 8% of the toads found was infected. The flies selected their prey according to their size. Predation took place in every habitat of the study area.
