Single-center Experience of Living-donor Liver Transplantation in Patients Receiving Maintenance Renal Replacement Therapy

Transplant Proc. 2019 Jun;51(5):1520-1521. doi: 10.1016/j.transproceed.2019.01.121.

Abstract

Background: For most patients with liver failure receiving maintenance renal replacement therapy (RRT), treatment with living-donor liver transplantation (LDLT) alone is indicated in Japan.

Material and methods: We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent LDLT while receiving RRT in our hospital.

Results: Three of the 5 patients who underwent LDLT while on RRT died during the first year after transplantation.

Conclusions: The indications for liver transplantation in patients on RRT require careful examination.
