The above article, published online on 22 November 2019 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the Editor-in Chief, Michael Geary, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. The investigation uncovered: Inconsistencies between the original data provided during the investigation and the published article; some P-values in Tables 1, 2 and 3 could not be reproduced by the Research Integrity team. Discrepancies between planned and actual sample sizes, and between sample sizes stated in the trial registry and in the published paper Unusual dependencies between variables in the study data provided by the author; for instance there is no satisfactory explanation for the unusual relationship between anaemia and age. As a result, the article's conclusions can no longer be considered valid. The authors did not agree with the decision to retract their article.
