A sensitive method for the histochemical demonstration of vicinal diols of carbohydrates

Histochem J. 1985 Apr;17(4):477-85. doi: 10.1007/BF01003207.

Abstract

A new sensitive method has been established for the histochemical demonstration of vicinal diols of carbohydrates in light microscopy. It consists of a periodic acid-thiocarbohydrazide-silver proteinate (PA-TCH-SP) sequence followed by physical development. The new method is more sensitive than the PA-TCH-SP and periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) methods employed hitherto. Its specificity is sufficient.
