[The "vitamin D" endocrine and paracrine mediator in pulmonary granulomatosis]

Rev Mal Respir. 1995;12(2):119-26.
[Article in French]

Abstract

This paper reports the recent data concerning the role of vitamin D in pulmonary granulomatous disease. Besides the well known action of 1,25-(OH)2D3 in producing hypercalcaemia in these patients, it is envisaged that 1,25-(OH)2D3 probably has an activating effect through a paracrine pathway on the formation and maturation of granulomas at the pulmonary level.
