Tracheal laceration from endotracheal intubation in a cat

Vet Rec. 1994 Jun 11;134(24):622-4. doi: 10.1136/vr.134.24.622.

Abstract

Iatrogenic trauma to the upper airway as a result of the clinical use of endotracheal tubes has rarely been reported in domestic animals. This report describes a case of tracheal laceration in a cat after endotracheal intubation for a dental procedure under general anaesthesia. The diagnosis and successful management of the condition are discussed, and other complications of the use of cuffed endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes are considered.
