Introduction: Treatment of Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome (MRS) remains uncertain. Two cases of MRS treated with thalidomide are described.
Case report: Two patients with cheilitis granulomatosa and recurrent facial edema have been treated with thalidomide (100 mg daily) for 3 and 6 months respectively. The efficacy of thalidomide was complete clinically and histologically in one case. In the second one, thalidomide suppressed attacks of facial edema and reduced lip swelling.
Comments: These cases suggest a therapeutic effect of thalidomide in MRS.
