Abstract

The synthesis of a carbocyclic analogue of netropsin (X) in which N-methylpyrrole rings were replaced by 1,3-disubstituted benzene rings was accomplished in eight steps starting from 4-hydroxyazobenzene-3-carboxylic acid.
