Morphological characteristic of the skull with gnathoschisis and palatoschisis

Folia Morphol (Warsz). 1996;55(2):83-8.

Abstract

The authors described human skull with bilateral gnathoschisis and palatoschisis belonging to adult female from the Tchuktchi tribe (18-19 century). An attempt to determine a degree of morphological deviations caused by this defect has been made in comparison to the normal skulls of the control series. The described skull was smaller, particularly in the middle facial region. The nasal aperture was widened with subsequent high palate.
