Abstract

An operative technique is described for fasciorrhaphy of large laparoscopic incisions, umbilical hernias or small abdominal wall hernias with laparoscopic monitoring within the scope of minimal invasive surgery. Over a period of 8 months the Carter-Thomason technique was used in 105 operative laparoscopies for occlusion of large laparoscopic incisions and in 6 pre-existing umbilical hernias. In the postoperative period no hernias occurred and no complications were observed.
