Krzysztof Cpałka was born in Częstochowa, Poland, in 1972. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Częstochowa University of Technology, Częstochowa, Poland, in 1997 and 2002, respectively, and the D.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Systems Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, in 2010. Since 2010, he has been a professor with the Department of Computer Engineering, Częstochowa University of Technology. He is the author or co-author of two books and over 100 refereed papers. He is an Associate Editor in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and a reviewer for many international scientific journals. Krzysztof Cpałka was a recipient of the IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks Outstanding Paper Award in 2005. His research interests include soft computing, computational intelligence, machine learning, and bio-inspired global optimization algorithms and their applications.
