TIRUPATI: The "garbage war" between ruling TDP and the YSRCP sparked off tensions after local TDP cadres dumped garbage bags in front of YSRCP mayor Suresh Babu's residence in Kadapa on Tuesday.
While the TDP cadres justified their act of dumping garbage bags in front of the Mayor's house as a form of protest against the delay in garbage collection and disposal by the local civics authorities, YSRCP corporators and activists staged protests at the Chinna Chowk police station, demanding the arrest of TDP MLA R Madhavi Reddy and TDP cadres.

TDP legislator Madhavi Reddy and YSRCP mayor Suresh Babu have been engaged in a fierce war of words over the garbage pile-up across the Kadapa town over the last few days.
Only a couple of days ago during her press meet held locally, Madhavi Reddy accused the YSRCP of playing "dirty politics" with regards to the disposal of garbage, leading to extreme inconvenience for the residents of Kadapa.
She alleged that mayor Suresh Babu was creating hurdles in garbage collection and disposal in a bid to defame her as well as the TDP led NDA govt. The TDP legislator also warned that if the mayor doesn't put an end the dirty politics which he is playing, TDP cadres and the local residents will be forced to dump garbage pile-up in front of the mayor's house.
In a quick retort to the TDP legislator's warnings, mayor Suresh Babu held a press conference at Kadapa on Monday and levelled several accusations on Madhavi Reddy, which reportedly enraged her followers and TDP activists.

On Tuesday morning, a group of TDP activists and locals, carried garbage bags from the Chinna Chowk junction and dumped them before the mayor's residence, which sparked off tension in the town.
Moments later, Kadapa mayor along with YSRCP corporators and activists staged protests in front of the Chinna Chowk police station, demanding the arrest of the TDP MLA and other activists, for dumping garbage bags in front of his house.
Following heightened tension between the TDP and the YSRCP, additional forces were rushed to the Chinna Chowk police station to diffuse the situation.
