BENGALURU: The Bengaluru city police investigating the Renukaswamy murder case have filed a chargesheet before the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court on Wednesday morning.
The chargesheet consists of 3,991 pages with seven volumes and 10 files. According to the police, they have filed the chargesheet against all 17 accused persons, including Darshan, his girlfriend Pavitra Gowda, and their aides.
Renukaswamy was allegedly kidnapped from Chitradurga and was killed by Darshan and his gang on June 8 in Pattanagere parking yard in Bengaluru, following obscene messages sent to Pavitra Gowda through Instagram.
The case of murder was registered at Kamakshipalya police station under IPC section 302 after the police found Renukaswamy’s body near Raj Kaluve in the early hours of June 9.
During the investigation, the police found around 231 witnesses, apart from many scientific, circumstantial, and technical pieces of evidence. The chargesheet was filed by the assistant commissioner of police (Vijayanagar sub-division) Chandan Kumar.
According to the police, among the 231 witnesses, there are three eyewitnesses in the case. Around eight forensic science laboratory (FSL) reports, the statements of 97 persons recorded under CrPC 161, and around 27 persons' statements recorded under CrPC 164 before the magistrate are included.
The police have submitted the statements of around 59 mahazar (spot inspection) witnesses. Around eight govt officials, including tahsildar, doctors, and regional transport officials, and 56 police officials are also witnesses in the case.
