Don't congratulate me, it's a sad day: Atishi on becoming new chief minister of Delhi

Atishi, named leader of AAP's legislative party, expressed gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal and committed to reinstating him as Delhi's chief minister. She pledged to safeguard free services like electricity and healthcare while managing the government under Kejriwal’s guidance until the next assembly elections. Atishi urged no congratulations for her new role.
Don't congratulate me, it's a sad day: Atishi on becoming new chief minister of Delhi
NEW DELHI: Hours after being picked as the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party legislative party, Atishi said that there was only one chief minister of Delhi and his name was Arvind Kejriwal. Her sole objective now, she claimed, was to make him CM again.
What Atishi said ...

"I want to thank my guru, Delhi's popular CM Arvind Kejriwal, for reposing faith in me by entrusting me with such a big responsibility," said Atishi.

"It can only happen in AAP under Kejriwalji's leadership that a first-time politician becomes the chief minister of a state. Had I been in any other party, I wouldn't even have got an election ticket, but Kejriwalji trusted me, made me an MLA, made me a minister and today has given me the responsibility of becoming CM."
Atishi's first electoral contest, the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 from East Delhi, resulted in a loss to cricketer Gautam Gambhir of BJP. The following year, she fought for the Kalkaji assembly seat and won. Saying she was sad at her "elder brother" Kejriwal resigning, she said, "Today, I want to say on behalf of all the MLAs of AAP and the two crore people of Delhi that Delhi has only one CM and his name is Arvind Kejriwal."
The CM designate said that in the past two years, BJP has left no stone unturned to harass Kejriwal but the Supreme Court had granted him bail while reprimanding the central govt and its agencies for it, even describing the Central Bureau of Investigation as a "caged parrot".
Atishi claimed that no other CM would not have taken the step of giving up the chief ministership and Kejriwal had done something that "perhaps no leader in the history of the world has done".

She added, "The people of Delhi, AAP MLAs and I, as CM, will now work together with only one objective till the assembly elections are held in the next few months — that we have to make Arvind Kejriwal the chief minister of Delhi again."
She maintained that BJP would continue to "conspire against the people of Delhi through its lieutenant governor to stop free electricity and free medicines in hospitals" for the people of the city. "I know they will try to close the mohalla clinics and ruin the govt schools. So, for the next few months, as long as I have this responsibility as CM, I will try to protect the people of Delhi and run the govt of Delhi under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwalji," she declared.
Urging the party MLAs, AAP workers and the people of Delhi not to congratulate her on assuming the post as head of govt, Atishi said, "I have only one request to all my workers, all my MLA colleagues and the people of Delhi — none of you should congratulate me, none of you should garland me. Because it is a very sad moment for me and for all the people of Delhi that our beloved CM has resigned today."
