4 killed, 1 injured in truck collision in UP's Kannauj

In Kannauj district, four people died and one was severely injured after a DCM truck collided with a stationary container on the Kanpur-Ghaziabad highway near Junaidpur Cut. KANPUR: Four people were killed while one sustained grievous injuries after a DCM truck collided with a stationary container at a dhaba near Junaidpur Cut of Gursahaiganj Kotwali area on the Kanpur-Ghaziabad Greenfield highway in Kannauj district on Friday morning.
The four occupants of the DCM succumbed to their injuries, and the sole survivor was rushed to the district hospital for immediate medical attention.

The police have successfully identified three of the deceased and are diligently working to ascertain the identity of the fourth victim.
In the early hours of Friday, a DCM originating from Delhi rammed into a container parked on the roadside in close proximity to a dhaba in Junaidpur Cut of Gursahaiganj Kotwali area. Alerted by the deafening sound of the collision, nearby residents swiftly converged on the scene and promptly notified the police about the catastrophic incident.
The police, upon arriving at the location, collaborated with the local populace to extricate the individuals trapped within the mangled remains of the DCM. Tragically, four occupants had already succumbed to their injuries, while one remained critically wounded.
The police swiftly arranged for an ambulance to transport the injured survivor to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment. Utilizing the documents recovered from the deceased, the police successfully identified three of the victims.
According to the police, the fatalities in the devastating accident include Pawan Kumar (34), son of Lalji, a resident of Maithili Mathura in Machli city of Jaunpur; Sonu Sharma (25), a resident of Ramaipur in Kotwali city of Amethi; and Prashant Kumar Singh (23), a resident of Dularpur in Shahganj police station area of Amethi. The identities of the fourth deceased and the injured individual remain undetermined at this juncture.

The authorities have duly informed the relatives of the identified deceased about the tragic incident. The police have transferred the mortal remains of the victims to the mortuary of the post-mortem house for further examination.
CO Sadar Kamlesh Kumar, who personally oversaw the rescue operation at the accident site, stated, "The bodies of the deceased have been placed in the mortuary. The injured individual is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the fourth deceased."
