Mentally-ill son kills mother in Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A 62-year-old woman died after being attacked allegedly by her son with a spade at Povval near Adhur on Tuesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Nabeesa, wife of Abdullakunhi of Povval, in Muliyar panchayat in Kasaragod.
Adhur police took the man, 42, into custody. The man was mentally ill and the investigation is going on, police said."His elder brother also suffered injuries while trying to prevent the attack on his mother. More details can be revealed only after an interrogation of the accused," said a police officer.
Meanwhile, the accused's elder brother, who sustained injuries, was admitted to a nearby private hospital and his condition has been reported to be stable.
