Senior Advocate Amit Munde appointed as Special Public Prosecutor

MUMBAI: Senior Advocate Amit Munde has been appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor for the Enforcement Directorate (ED), a significant move as the agency intensifies its efforts against economic offenses such as money laundering, tax evasion, and financial fraud. Munde, recognised for his expertise in defending central agencies, will now represent the ED in high-profile cases nationwide.
With a legal career defined by dedication and strategic acumen, Munde has been instrumental in cases involving complex economic crimes.He has represented key government departments, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Income Tax Department, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Customs, and the CGST Department. Notably, Munde has secured over 30 landmark criminal convictions under the Income Tax Act, 1961, against prominent public and private companies.
Having handled over 2,500 cases, Munde’s deep knowledge and experience in special acts such as the Income Tax Act, the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Customs and CGST Acts, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, make him a crucial asset in the ED’s mission to uphold the rule of law and combat financial crimes.
